Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be 3fresh and 4flourishing,
For he shall be mlike a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not 3fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
We don’t make deals with God to get His blessings on our lives. We don’t try to be good Christians in hopes that things will get better. However, scripture bears out that when we do seek the Lord first and foremost, when we do delight in Him and meditate in His word, the result of that is great security and fruitfulness. Any security or fruitfulness that I have enjoyed in this life is a direct result of seeking God in His word and striving to live that Word in my life.
God does not play hide-and-seek with us. His blessings are not for the super-spiritual, if such a one even exists. God makes it clear and plain for us: when we seek Him according to His word, delight in His word and meditate on His word He will give us security and fruitfulness. I don’t understand a Christian who won’t stay in the Word. The faith it took to trust God for salvation is the same faith that we take into our Bible reading.
Make the Word of God your daily food. Read it, delight in it, meditate on it, pray over it, talk about it to others and enjoy God’s securing your life in Himself so that you can be strong like a deeply rooted tree throughout your life.
After yesterday’s message on the supernatural ability and desires of God, I find myself asking Him for greater things than I have been asking. I visited Lisa’s mom in the hospital and challenged her to pray for supernatural healing from God to help her through yesterday. I laid in bed asking God to show His supernatural working in me and in our church. I prayed for those who have estranged themselves from us that God would supernaturally change their hearts toward Him and toward us. God is both able and desirous to show Himself mighty. We must be people of obedience and faith so that we can enjoy His mighty acts.
Pray for Lisa’s mom, Harriet, to be cleared of two blood clots in her lungs. God can do this. Let us pray that He will.
As I mentioned yesterday, we are joining a church from Sandwich on a youth campout to Peninsula State Park in Door County. The cost is $30. I need to know by this Friday who is going. The dates are the 22nd to the 25th.
Have a great day in the Lord, PS
