God knows His own

Psalm 1:6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,

Nahum 1:7  The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

2 Timothy 2:19  Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

Yes, the Lord knows those who are His, those who belong to Him.  He knows me, He knows you. When you feel like no one knows or cares, your Lord does.  This is a great truth to speak to your heart in times of depression and pain.  Job knew this and practiced it.  When his friends told him that he had been unrighteous and that all of his troubles were because of his unrighteousness, He said, “I know that my Redeemer lives and that He shall stand in the earth.”  Job knew God as His Redeemer, a person of action to take care of him in all parts and places of his life.

The man (or woman) in Psalm 1 was the righteous one who lived in God’s righteousness.  The fool, the scorner and the simple ones are not living righteously and cannot expect God to lead them in righteous ways.  This promise is specific to those who have been given the righteousness of Christ and then are striving to live obediently to Him, following His wisdom by delighting and meditating in His word.  These are the ones the Lord knows.

As Nahum said, He knows those who trust in Him.  As Paul said to Timothy, those who name the name of Christ are to depart from iniquity.  So we are back to obedience and faith.  Let us live today in obedience to and faith in God’s complete word so that we can enjoy the reality of God knowing our way.

I will be speaking at Sunrise Assisted living at 10:30 this morning.  If anyone would like to bring their children and meet me there, the people do enjoy the kids.  Pray for this opportunity as I open the Word with these dear elderly.

What are you seeking the supernatural hand of God for?  We met as a family last night and came to an agreement of something that we as a family are asking God to show Himself mighty on our behalf.  What is your family asking for?  Make it something supernatural that you would not do just for yourself but for God’s glory to be seen and known.

Have a great day in the Lord, PS
