Do you have a high view of God?

Psalm 113

1     Praise the Lord!

Praise, O servants of the Lord,

Praise the name of the Lord!

2     Blessed be the name of the Lord

From this time forth and forevermore!

3     From the rising of the sun to its going down

The Lord’s name is to be praised.

4     The Lord is high above all nations,

His glory above the heavens.

5     Who is like the Lord our God,

Who dwells on high,

6     Who humbles Himself to behold

The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

7     He raises the poor out of the dust,

And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,

8     That He may seat him with princes—

With the princes of His people.

9     He grants the barren woman a home,

Like a joyful mother of children.

Praise the Lord!

Oh how greatly we need a high view of God!  The Psalmist had a high view of God.  Read these nine verses again.

Do you have this high a view of God?  Now, read this Psalm again and read it slowly pausing between each verse.

God is worthy of all of the praise of all of the people because His is so high and exalted above us and above the earth.  There is none like Him; He is not to be taken lightly; we are not to look at Him with anything less than awe and praise.

But then we get to verse 6 which tells us that God humbles Himself to look upon us.  What does that do for your thoughts of pride today?  God, the high and lifted up One, has to humble Himself to look upon you.  Forget your prejudiced thoughts about looking down on people “below” you; God has to humble Himself to look on you.  Thank God for His willingness to humble Himself to look on us, to raise us from the ash heap of our sin and to set us with princes, with the great Prince of peace, the Lord Jesus Christ.  God has humbled Himself all the way to the Cross to call us to Himself so that He may lift us up with Him.  Praise the Lord.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers for our family. The wake for Bobbi’s mom last night was a very enjoyable time. People from our past and from our present came to lift us up and we were indeed lifted by them all. Bobbi’s dad, true to his character, talked to people about the Lord, His grace, His Sug, and cared for every one who walked by him. Once again he was a testimony of the Lord showing forth His fruit to others.

The funeral is at 10:30 this morning and will be a time of tears and rejoicing as we “see mom in the arms of Jesus her Savior.”

Do pray for RU tonight. There are men and women by the dozens who need this ministry but they just do not come. Pray for God to burden hearts of men and women to arrive and to engage their minds in talk about the only One who can make a difference.

Also tonight, the Indian church that uses our building is having a two day conference on the second coming of Jesus Christ. It is tonight, tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. If you can attend this you will be blessed. The sermons will be in English and you will enjoy the heart of our Indian brothers and sisters who love our Lord Jesus and show forth that love with great zeal.

I look forward to seeing you all Sunday morning.

Have a great day in the Lord, PS
