Mercy, Salvation, and Hope

Psalm 119

41   Let Your mercies come also to me, O Lord—

Your salvation according to Your word.

42   So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me,

For I trust in Your word.

43   And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,

For I have hoped in Your ordinances.

44   So shall I keep Your law continually,

Forever and ever.

45   And I will walk at liberty,

For I seek Your precepts.

46   I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings,

And will not be ashamed.

47   And I will delight myself in Your commandments,

Which I love.

48   My hands also I will lift up to Your commandments,

Which I love,

And I will meditate on Your statutes.

Mercy, salvation, and hope are the themes of this section.  Since we have mercy, salvation, and hope we have an answer for those who reproach us.  We know the God of mercy, salvation, and hope.  God, in His mercy, is trustworthy so we can place our trust in Him.

With the word of God in our mouth we have hope in that word.  It is the Word that never fails.  It never has and it never will therefore we can trust it.  We keep it forever and ever.  Who else’s word will we listen to forever?  God alone has words that will last.

With God’s precepts before us we can walk in liberty.  This is the opposite of slavery.  While sin and the world and the flesh bring us into their bondage, God’s word gives us wonderful liberty.   And as we keep His word there is no shame but there is delight.  Who else promises us this and can follow through on their promise?  None but God for God alone has truth in His word and His word alone is able to bring delight to us, His creation.

We love God’s commands.  We lift up our hands to God’s commands.  We reach out for them and we praise them.  When we get His word, we meditate on it.  Take time every day, including today, to meditate, focused thought, on God’s word.  You will know delight and will no longer know any shame.

Today the Sivnksty’s get the scan results. Pray for them during this time as decisions will be made regarding surgery and future procedures.

Tonight we have Bible study, kids4truth, and youth group. This is an important part of our week.  Join us at 7:00.
