What do you love?

Psalm 119

97   Oh, how I love Your law!

It is my meditation all the day.

98   You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;

For they are ever with me.

99   I have more understanding than all my teachers,

For Your testimonies are my meditation.

100  I understand more than the ancients,

Because I keep Your precepts.

101  I have restrained my feet from every evil way,

That I may keep Your word.

102  I have not departed from Your judgments,

For You Yourself have taught me.

103  How sweet are Your words to my taste,

Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104  Through Your precepts I get understanding;

Therefore I hate every false way.

Take a minute, (maybe 30 seconds) and read verses 98-104 in light of vs 97.  Superimpose your love of God’s word as your meditation over the other thoughts to follow.

Do you see the correlation?  Do you notice how loving God’s law is both the key and the catalyst for wisdom above your enemies, more understanding than your teachers, more understanding than the ancient wise men, keeping your feet from every evil way, not departing from God’s judgments, a sweet enjoyment of God’s words, a great understanding of life and a hatred of every false way?

We have to notice that in order to enjoy the greatest benefits that God has for us we really must have an overwhelming love for God’s word.  That love for His word results in some life-directing and life-altering stuff.  If you want the benefits of God you have to love His word.

Now, what do we do with things we love?  Well, we think about them, we go over them, we spend time with them, we spend money on them, we talk about them, and we learn all we can about them.  Whenever we have free time we spend in on that which we love.  What we love comes out of us.  We can’t help it, it just does.

When we love God’s word and meditate on it, it will come out of us in some pretty amazing and wonderful ways.

Keep Tom Hymers in your prayers today as he having knee replacement surgery this morning. Pray for his healing that God would allow it to heal faster than normal.  Pray for the whole family, kids and grandkids, to see the Lord at work and to grow in their faith.

Pastor Bill is speaking at Sunrise Assisted Living for me this morning. Pray for God to use that service to encourage our dear friends there.

Connie Guthrie, Kristi Sheafer’s mother, has a sectional sofa set with a sleeper in one side of it. She wants to donate it to anyone who needs it.  I have a picture of it if you are interested.  It is a tan leather set in pretty good condition.  Her husband, John, has had a stroke and they are rearranging their home for John to come home.

Sunday was a wonderful day at Grace for Life. We thank God for the lives He is changing for His glory.

Have a great day in the Lord, PS
