This is Good News

Acts 13:29-33 (ESV)

29 And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, 33 this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,
” ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you.’
My friends, I read this today and am rejoicing in the “good news” of the resurrected Jesus. No other faith system or religious teaching has a resurrected Savior, but we do. That is good news. Every other religious founder died and is still in the grave but Jesus rose from His tomb. That is good news. Every other person who has ever died from the beginning of time has gone to the grave and their body has corrupted in the grave, but Jesus did not see corruption, in fact, just the opposite happened. When the broken body of Jesus went into the tomb and healed body came out! This is good news.
Jesus rose from the dead conquering both sin, the cause of death, and death itself, which is the end of sin. In the death and resurrection of life we have life for through His sacrificial death Christ justifies us before the holy Father. Yes, this is good news indeed.
What do we do with good news? We proclaim it, we talk about it, we love it. Tell someone the good news today.
