8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men;
Recall to mind, O you transgressors.
9 Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’
11 Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man who executes My counsel, from a far country.
Indeed I have spoken it;
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it;
I will also do it.
This section begins with God calling men to show themselves as men. A man remembers the important things of live, he remembers who he was before God came into his life and he remembers that there is one God and follows Him. You see, it takes a real man or a real woman to remember their sinful life before the Lord took over and to ever live mindful of the eternal God who saved them. Anyone, anyone, anyone can act like those around them. It takes a person of spiritual integrity to stand alone and to stand above.
The difference? God is God alone. God alone declares the end of time from the beginning of time. God alone can make prophecies of events hundreds and thousands of years before they happen and brings all of time to a focal point when He fulfills His prophetic word. God alone accomplishes all of His good pleasure in the world and the people that He created. In verse 11 God tells us that He can call a pagan king to come to do His purpose in His world, for whatever God purposes, that is what He does.
Can you rest in a God like this? Can you find greater purpose for your day knowing that the God of heaven is accomplishing His good pleasure in it? What are we worrying about? What are we afraid of? What depresses us? God is God, He is on the throne of the universe, and God has predicted all that will happen and is working all things to accomplish His will for His glory. God has given us a part in His will by placing us on this earth at this time. Be zealous for the Lord of hosts.
What a great time we had yesterday at our annual church Memorial Day picnic. We had food in abundance, games galore, a canoe and a lake, and brothers and sisters in Christ to enjoy it all together. And while it was quite windy, the sun shone and we got burned by it. Families came, couples came, singles came, and all enjoyed all kinds of conversations. Though we left tired, we left fulfilled. What a great family our church is.
Keep praying for Ken to find a job quickly. Many applications, nothing yet.
On Sunday we honored our high school graduates. Remember Lebo, Matthew, and Kyle in your prayers and they embark on a new chapter of their lives.
Keep praying for VBS.
Have a great day in the Lord,
